How long have you worked at QBS and what is your role? I became an employee of QBS in August of 2017 but prior to that I was a client of QBS for 4 years. I have known David for more years than either of us would like to admit! In my previous role, I was looking for a service provider to administer our payroll function. I reached out to Pam and David for a proposal. One of our biggest issues with past vendors was lack of service. Knowing Pam and David personally, I knew I could expect quality service from QBS!
What’s your favorite part of your job? My co-workers are top-notch! I have been blessed in my career to work with some great people! I didn’t doubt QBS had a quality staff but anytime you make a change, you are always a little apprehensive. As a client, I worked directly with a few QBS employees but the rest I met on my first day. It instantly felt like home.
What is one of the biggest challenges you face in your role? We are going at a pretty rapid pace, which is a good “problem” to have, and we are also migrating to a new software platform. We have also had several internal promotions (another good “problem”). Most of the new hires are in my areas so we are learning the old system as well as the new. Also, this time of year is insanely busy. There are a lot of moving parts but thankfully, the seasoned vets are keeping us newbies in line!
QBS recently was named as one of SC’s Best Places to Work for the 3rd consecutive year. What do you think sets it apart from other organizations? I think a lot of companies brag on their level of “service” but how many live and breathe it? I saw the high level of service as client when QBS always worked with us to find solutions to some of our custom reporting or flexibility needed on the processing side. Now that I am an employee, I see our staff going above and beyond what is expected daily. Internally, we are always looking at how we can be better and more efficient; how can we be proactive problem solvers for our clients; how can we amaze our clients on a daily basis. This philosophy starts with the leadership and is passed on across the organization.
What’s one interesting fact about you that we may not know? I was very shy when I was younger (amazing, I know!). I still do not like talking in front of a room full of strangers but I love training others!
Anything else you’d like to share? (Family, Hobbies, etc.?) I grew up in the big town of Ninety Six, SC. I would do anything for my family and friends. My hobbies include reading, traveling, and anything that involves being at the beach!
