(TRAVELERS REST, SC) Pamela Evette, the president and chief executive officer of Quality Business Solutions, Inc. (QBS), an Upstate South Carolina-based outsourced payroll, human resources and benefits firm, has been elected lieutenant governor of the State of South Carolina. Evette, along with the incumbent, Governor Henry McMaster, won the election on November 6, making Evette the first Republican female ever elected to that office.
The Republican McMaster/Evette ticket defeated Democrats James Smith and Mandy Powers Norrell by a margin of more than eight percent. McMaster’s and Evette’s conservative pro-business platform and values-driven campaign made the ticket very attractive to the people of South Carolina.
Evette, an award-winning entrepreneur who has taken the company she owns and operates from start-up to the Inc. 500/5000 in a few short years, attributes her success to the knowledge and insight she has gained by serving her clients over the years by helping them grow while responding to the changing regulatory and business climate. In addition to running her business, Evette has been a champion for new business start-ups and women-owned organizations and served as a member of the South Carolina Small Business Regulatory Committee. She has also been a tireless advocate for issues close to her heart, including education, children and the elderly.
As lieutenant governor, Evette will maintain offices in Columbia and Travelers Rest, S.C., where her business is based. While Evette will provide strategic counsel and direction to QBS, her husband, David Evette, will continue to handle day-to-day operations for the firm.
“Governor McMaster and I are driven by an inherent desire to create good-paying jobs, grow our state economy and protect and preserve our conservative family values on a statewide level,” said Evette. “As I’ve said throughout the campaign, I believe in hard work and aiming high, and I vow to use all that I’ve learned through my business career and personal experience to continue to earn the confidence the people of South Carolina have shown in me by fighting to advance the causes and issues that matter most to them.”
The inauguration is set for Wednesday, January 9, 2019.
