How long have you worked at QBS and what is your role? I have been at QBS now for 6 months. I am the Workers’ Compensation and HR assistant. On the Workers’ Comp side, I handle the claims from start to finish – which means I report the claim to the insurance carrier and make sure the injured employee is given the quality medical care he or she needs to get back to work in a timely manner. I also assist our HR specialist with Unemployment Claims, Wage and Employment verifications as well as other day to day functions.
What’s your favorite part of your job? I’ve really enjoyed getting to know my co-workers and clients.
Workers’ Compensation sounds like a complicated area! What is one of the biggest challenges you face in your role? The biggest challenge is keeping up and ensuring compliance with the ever-changing laws and regulations surrounding Workers’ Comp. We have many clients in many different states. Each state is different when it comes to these laws and what is required.
Are there any QBS traditions or events that you really enjoy? We celebrate employees’ birthdays every month which is a lot of fun. We also had an office Thanksgiving potluck at the office. It’s a great way to take a break from the busy work load and have time of fellowship.
What’s one interesting fact about you that we may not know? I love sports, college football in particular. I’m a huge Clemson fan! Go Tigers!
Anything else you’d like to share? (Family, Hobbies, etc.?) I have a beautiful 13 yr old daughter who keeps me busy. She is very active in volleyball and I love watching her play. In my free time I enjoy reading and crafting.
