How long have you worked at QBS and what is your role? I started working part-time for QBS in September of 2014. I was hired full-time as the Receptionist in January of 2015. Several months later, I moved into Distribution where I am responsible for folding, counting and packaging the payroll.
What’s your favorite part of your job? I love the people I work with and helping to make their jobs easier. I also love coming to work where I can go out and feed the horses, work wth Ruby (the cat) in Distribution and have Polly (David’s dog) come visit me for treats!
What is one of the biggest challenges you face in your role? On busy payroll days it can be a challenge to get the payroll out by 5:00 – especially when they start printing around the same time!
Your role has changed since joining the organization – how did that occur and is potential growth within the company something that attracted you to QBS? As I mentioned earlier, I started as the Receptionist and when an employee left I was asked to take over some of her responsibilities in Distribution. When I started at QBS I wasn’t thinking of moving up in the company, but as QBS continues to grow, there seem to be more opportunities available.
What’s one interesting fact about you that we may not know? I taught school (Elementary) for 13 years.
Anything else you’d like to share? (Family, Hobbies, etc.) My husband David and I have a son, Jacob. He is 17 and a junior at Riverside High School. I also have a stepdaughter, Kimberly, who is 27 and in medical school at MUSC. It is no secret that I love horses and Starbucks iced mochas!
