How long have you worked at QBS and what is your role?
I have worked at QBS in the benefits department for a little over 3 years. Most of my role is COBRA administration for our clients.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
I know everyone says their coworkers, but seriously, these are some of the best people I know. Working alongside them makes spending 40 hours of my week working that much more enjoyable.
What is one of the biggest challenges you face in your role?
Being able to communicate in a timely manner with some of the COBRA participants can be challenging — their phone number on file may no longer be working or they sometimes move without updating their address.
What makes QBS different/unique from other places you’ve worked?
The most unique thing is that our office is in an old barn, and there are animals on the property. We have a couple of horses, a mini donkey, and a cat. I love animals. My first job was actually working at a pet store, so being able to be around animals again at work is a perk in my opinion!
What would you be doing for a career if you weren’t doing this?
I would probably be involved in some sort of social work. Going back to school to study social work crosses my mind sometimes, and if I were not doing this, I think I would look into that more seriously.
What’s one interesting fact about you that we may not know?
I like to collect vintage advertising displays and promotional items. Kool-Aid, ICEE, Mr. Peanut, McDonalds, Showbiz Pizza, etc. My favorite piece that I purchased last year is a three-and-a-half foot tall Kool-Aid man display.
Anything else you’d like to share? (Family, Hobbies, etc.?)
I own a music retail store in Greenville, SC with my business and life partner, Franklin. We opened in 2016 and sell vinyl records, CDs, cassette tapes, and art.
